As part of the Chalo Chamba campaign promoting tourism, the MTB Dalhousie 2021, a mountain bike adventure ride, was organised by the Mongas Group, Dalhousie, and Xtreme Off-roaders under the aegis of the district administration.
As many as 29 professional cyclists hailing from Delhi, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Chamba, besides 37 local schoolchildren enthusiastically participated in the event that concluded today.
In the first leg of the event, a batch of professional cyclists was flagged off from the local Nehru Park by Dalhousie SDM Jagan Thakur. The route followed was Nehru Park-Polani Mata-Jot-Khajjiar and back via the Subhash Chowk, Dalhousie.
District Tourism Development Officer (DTDO) Vijay Kumar flagged off the second leg cycle ride for schoolchildren at the Alha water tank. The children along with the professional riders passed through Bakrota hills and finished at the Subhash Chowk.
Deputy Commissioner DC Rana praised the initiative of the Mongas Group, Xtreme Off-roaders and the locals for organising the MTB Dalhousie 2021. He presented certificates and medals to the participants and asked the organisers to make it an annual feature.
Dalhousie Public School chairperson Dr (Capt) GS Dhillon honoured Karan Monga, chief patron of Mongas Group, for organising the event for the first time. Riders spoke about the scenic beauty of the Chamba valley and its potential for organising such events.
