With the Municipal Corporation passing a proposal to impose tax on vehicles from other states entering the city, tourists may have to pay green tax in near future. The MC will soon send the proposal to the state government for approval.
“We will send a detailed note to the government as the issue involves the tourism industry as well. If the government approves it, we will go ahead with it,” said MC Commissioner Ashish Kohli.
The MC brought the proposal in its Budget this year and hopes to earn a revenue of around Rs 15 crore annually from it. “The amount collected as tax will be spent on the development and beautification of the city,” said Mayor Satya Kaundal.
