New Delhi, January 24
Reiterating India’s resolve to become a developed nation by 2047, PM Narendra Modi today emphasised the importance of the next 25 years for the future of India and the present generation. Addressing National Cadet Corps (NCC), he said ‘nation first’ should be the guiding principle of the ‘Amrit Generation’.
He elaborated on the steps for creating new avenues for youth to realise their full potential and mentioned creating new opportunities in newly opened sectors.
In this regard, he spoke about ease of doing business, creating a private sector in the defence industry, establishing the National Research Foundation and modern educational facilities. He also spoke about reforming the education system in India which allows attaining higher education in the mother tongue and not being bound to a particular stream or subject.
Referring to women participants from across India at the Republic Day Parade, Modi said they had brought along the essence of their respective states, their culture and traditions. On the role of women, Modi said, “Daughters of India have the capability to reform society.”
Mentioning the government’s decision to confer Bharat Ratna on former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, Modi said the young generation must know about the great personality. He exhorted them to make his ideals a part of their lives. Recollecting his association with the NCC, the Prime Minister said it made youth aware of society and civic duties.
Amit Shah takes jibe at JD(U), RJD
A day after the Centre took the decision to bestow former Bihar CM and socialist leader Karpoori Thakur with Bharat Ratna, Home Minister Amit Shah took a jibe at the JD(U) and RJD, saying though they claimed to have been demanding the honour for the departed leader, they forgot all about it when they were in power.
