Three persons died with COVID-19 and 106 tested positive for coronavirus among them 55 policemen in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, taking the caseload to 1,289.

Two women and a man, all of them from south Kashmir, died today at CoVID-19 designated health centre, Chest Disease hospital. They were suffering from critical ailments before contracting coronavirus.

Also, 55 cops of 11th battalion of Indian Reserve Police (IRP), including their deputy commandant posted at District Police Lines (DPL) Anantnag tested positive for coronavirus in Kashmir today.

“In UT of J&K, 106 new positive cases have been reported since our last update yesterday; 12 from Jammu and 94 from Kashmir,” reads daily media bulletin on CoVID-19.

Kashmir also reported three deaths with CoVID-19, highest in a day, on Monday.

“The deceased is a 65-year-old female from Kokernag, Anantnag. She had thyroid cancer. Third death today. Total CoVID-19 fatalities in Jammu and Kashmir climbs to 16,” said Dr Muhammad Salim Khan, CoVID nodal officer for Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar and its associated hospitals.

Earlier in the day, a woman, 65, of Kulgam and a man, 75, of Anantnag died today at CD hospital Srinagar.

The deceased woman had suffered Subdural Haemorrhage (SDH) while as the man had suffered a stroke before contracting coronavirus.

Anantnag reported highest positive cases, 59, Srinagar and Kulgam 12 each, Kupwara 4, two each in Rajouri, Poonch, Jammu, Kathua, Bandipora, and one each in Baramulla, Shopian, Budgam, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Udhampur, Ramban, Kishtwar, and Doda districts.

Meanwhile, DPL Anantnag has emerged into a major infection hotspot for coronavirus as 78 cops have contracted the virus in past one week.

Officials said a local cop posted at DPL Anantnag had got contact with the brother of a CoVID-19 patient and resulted into the spread of the disease. Also, wife of a constable from Jammu has tested positive for virus.

Officials said she could be one of the primary contacts of coronavirus after contracting the virus from her father in Jammu.

First eight cops tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday and after that 14 more tested positive for the virus on Saturday.
