11 inmates booked after video shot in jail uploaded on social media

HOSHIARPUR: The police have booked 11 inmates of the Hoshiarpur Central Jail under various sections of the IT Act and Prisons Act for reportedly uploading a video and selfies on social media from the jail.



Hoshiarpur, April 22

The police have booked 11 inmates of the Hoshiarpur Central Jail under various sections of the IT Act and Prisons Act for reportedly uploading a video and selfies on social media from the jail. After the video went viral, the SSP had sought a report from the jail administration in this regard and the matter was also investigated by the city police. Late this evening, the SSP confirmed that an FIR has been lodged by the city police in this regard.

A video shot inside the jail was uploaded on Facebook which gone viral later. Many notorious criminals lodged in the jail were visible in the video.

After the matter came to the fore, the SSP took cognisance of the matter and ordered a probe into the matter. He also sought a report from the authorities. Later, the jail administration investigated the matter and found that the video was shot in the Hoshiarpur jail. Some prisoners and undertrials were captured in the video. Afterwards, the jail authorities filed a complaint against the 11 prisoners and undertrials with the police. — OC
