“I am still alive sir. Here is the proof that it is me Baldev Singh and I am not dead,” pleaded Baldev Singh (65), a resident of Mehmadowal village in the Chabbewal area of Hoshiarpur, before the court.
Baldev was declared dead in court records on March 28, 2017. He along with his counsel Advocate Meenakshi Puri today also produced some documents to prove his identity in the court.
He requested the court to hear the case again. The court has fixed the next hearing in the case for November 20.
After the court’s proceedings, Baldev and his counsel Meenakshi Puri said the former had a property dispute with his brother and his son in connivance with his brother had filed a case in the local court for his ejectment from his property in June 2011.
The result of the case came in his favour on September 22, 2016. Baldev Singh said the opposite party filed an appeal in the Sessions court on December 23, 2016, against the order of the Civil Judge Senior Division. The hearing of the case was on January 2, 2017, and then on February 20, 2017.
Advocate Meenakshi Puri said Baldev had not received any summon to appear in the court during the hearing of the appeal filed on behalf of his son as he had no information about the appeal. The case was now being heard in the court of Additional Sessions Judge RK Khullar.
Baldev Singh said he came to know about the appeal filed by his son and he was declared dead in court records when he was present in the court in connection with another case.
