Cell phones worth Rs 10 lakh stolen from shop

Jalandhar, February 13

Mobile phones worth Rs 10 lakh were stolen from a mobile phone showroom in the Basti Sheikh area. This is the second major theft in the city in the recent past.

Shop owner Dinesh Mehta said he had closed his shop at 10 pm last evening. When he returned in the morning, he found the locks were broken.

“When I lifted the shutter, the entire showroom was found ransacked. About 56 new mobile phone handsets and over 12 old phones were stolen, the cost of which was around Rs 10 lakh,” he said.

He said the thieves had also taken away DVRs of CCTV cameras installed in the shop. The police had started checking the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity of the showroom to get some clues.— TNS
