Jalandhar, February 28
Congress leaders, led by Nakodar halqa in charge Dr Navjot Dahiya, took out a tractor march here today to support the farmers agitating at the Haryana borders.
Since Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was also to hold a programme in Nakodar, the “kisani bachao” protest was held from Talwan town to Nurmahal.
The Congress workers raised slogans such as “kisan ekta zindabad” as they passed through Bilga and Gumtali areas. Among those who attended the event were Baljit S Johal, block president; Gurdeep S Thammanwal, former chairman of the Market Committee, Nurmahal; councillors and sarpanches of the area.
Congress leaders also took out a tractor march in Kapurthala. District president Deepak Salman led the march, which started from the grain market. It passed through Ramneek Chowk, Circular Road, Ekta Bhawan, Jalandhar bypass and DC Chowk before culminating at the starting point.
Voicing the concerns of the protesting farmers, the Congress leaders said the Centre must concede to their demands. The party workers raised slogans against the Centre.
