Jalandhar: The latest developments in farmers’ stir has taken a toll on the Railways and the Roadways, yet again. While the Railways on Thursday officially communicated the cancellation and short-termination of nearly two dozen trains, the Roadways staff, too, said they were struggling to get passengers on various routes, including Delhi, Jaipur, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand among others. Baljit Singh, a Roadways employee, said the passenger count has drastically reduced in the last two days. “People who usually commute through Roadways buses told us to cancel tickets fearing the situation was still critical as the roads were blocked.” Apart from that, panic was also created due to several announcements of high alert in Punjab and Haryana. In-addition, key trains cancelled due to farmers’ protest include Darbhanga-Amritsar (05212), express special, Sealdah-Amritsar express special (02379). Besides, the short-terminated trains operating from Jalandhar includes Nanded-Amritsar (02715), Korba-Amritsar (08237) express train, Mumbai Central-Amritsar express special (02903), Bandra Terminus-Amritsar express special (02925) and Jaynagar-Amritsar (04673/04649).
