HOSHIARPUR: The 17th state-level Olympian Jarnail Singh Memorial Football Tournament, being organised by Olympian Jarnail Singh Memorial Tournament Committee concluded at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College here today.

Hoshiarpur, February 12

The 17th state-level Olympian Jarnail Singh Memorial Football Tournament, being organised by Olympian Jarnail Singh Memorial Tournament Committee concluded at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College here today.

Results:

Club class category: Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, get the best of host Olympian Jarnail Singh Academy Garhshankar.

College category: Khalsa College, Garhshankar beat Khalsa College, Mahilpur, 2-1 and won the title for the second consecutive time.

Village category: Morawali trounced Samundra village 3-0.

The Fair Play Trophy of the tournament was given to Guru Hargobind Sahib Football Academy Banga.

Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra, MP graced the occasion as the chief guest. He lauded the efforts of the tournament committee for successfully conducting the tournament. Announcing to set up solar system at the college and stadium, he promised to provide grant for the same from MPLAD fund.

District president, SAD, Surinder Singh Bhullewal thanked the NRIs and local residents who supported the tournament. Arjuna awardees Inder Singh, and Gurdev Singh Gill, Maharaja Ranjit Singh awardee Charanjit Singh Pappu, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi, Gyan Singh Football, Raghvir Singh Moily, Priy from football world. Dr. Preet Mohinder Pal Singh, former Chief Coach NIS Satnam Singh Dhillon, among others, were also present on the occasion.
