Protesting against a scuffle that took place between two taxi drivers on Thursday, members of the Azad Taxi Union held a demonstration in front of the SP’s office here on Friday.

The protesters alleged that taxi driver Baljinder Singh, a resident of Jandu Singha village, was beaten up by Joginder Singh Maan and his driver, who were going in an Innova car, after their vehicles hit each other near the bus stand here on Thursday.

Baljinder was going to Delhi to drop his passengers at the airport when the vehicles hit while overtaking.

The protesters submitted a memorandum to SP Mandeep Singh, who asked ASP Phagwara Sandeep Malik to probe the matter.

When contacted, former minister Joginder Singh Maan denied the allegation and said he did not come out of his car. Mann said he had informed the traffic police about the issue.
