Travel agents booked for duping people, still at large

KAPURTHALA: Three travel agents involved in duping gullible people on the pretext of sending them to Canada have been booked by the Kapurthala police when Harpreet Singh of Mehatpur lodged a complained against them.

Three travel agents involved in duping gullible people on the pretext of sending them to Canada have been booked by the Kapurthala police when Harpreet Singh of Mehatpur lodged a complained against them.

The accused Makhan Singh, Gian Kaur, and Parkash Chand have been absconding. The police have registered a case under Section 420 of the IPC and Punjab prevention of Human smuggling Act 2012 in this regard.

The victim said he had met the accused around three years ago and they promised him to send him to Canada. The complainant said he had given an amount of Rs 45 lakh (approx) to the accused along with the papers in these three years by depositing the amount in the accounts but nothing happened since then.

ASI Darshan Singh said there were many cases that have been registered against the three accused.

“We are looking for them, they have left their home, soon they will be nabbed,” Singh said adding that the amount may reach to crores as others from the same village have also complained about these agents.
