Senior citizen picked for sampling, later left to fend for herself

A 63-year-old woman from Durga Puri, Haibowal, who is under home quarantine, was taken to Civil Hospital by the health staff to collect her sample. The son of the elderly woman is already Covid positive. When she asked the ambulance staff to drop her back to her home, they refused. “I am an elderly woman and my son is already admitted. How they can ask me to go back on my own?,” she said. “I am a suspect patient and they are asking me to use public transport to reach home. Travelling in public transport poses risk to me as well as to others,” she added. Dr Bagga said there was some miscommunication and he felt sorry about the incident. It is the duty of the staff to assist a patient in going back home.
