Ludhiana, January 19

Under the Fit India Movement, more than 100 NSS volunteers of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, GADVASU, took part in Cyclothon-2020 held at Rakh Bagh Ludhiana.

The cyclothon is an initiative taken by Government of India in raising awareness about fitness and health. The students encouraged mass public for cycling as fun way to remain fit and being eco-friendly at the same time.

The event was flagged off by Nidhi Sharma, Welfare Officer, GADVASU and NSS Programme Coordinator. She said, “It’s a great joy to cycle and drive away stress and many health issues.”

The NSS programme officer of the College of Dairy Science and Technology Dr. Sivakumar said that the cyclists covered 5 km, starting from Rakh Bagh.

SS Hassan, programme officer of College of Fisheries, informed that the students were carrying placards with slogans on Fit India and save environment during the cycle rally.

Jaspreet Singh from the College of Animal Biotechnology maintained that the Cyclathon was a part of seven-day NSS camp on the theme ‘Paryavaran Aur swachhta ko samarpit Yuva’. — TNS
