Differently abled student made DC for a day

A differently abled student, Abhijit Singh, of Government Middle School Nangla, was made a Deputy Commissioner (DC) for a day by Fatehgarh Sahib DC Amrit Kaur Gill. Abhijit was taken to the DC office by Jaspreet Singh, Assistant Commissioner Grievances.

Gill said the administration celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. A large number of differently abled students had come to participate in various events at Resource Centre. The Assistant Commissioner (Grievances) was the chief guest and he came across Abhijit and the latter told that he wanted to become a DC for one day. She said the administration was committed to provide every type of support to differently abled. The DC said the society should support them. Abhijit said it was a proud moment for him.

Artificial limbs, calipers, crutches distributed

Ludhiana: On the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Bharat Vikas Parishad’s Shiva Branch in association with the Bharat Vikas Parishad Charitable Trust Punjab, Ludhiana, organised a free artificial limbs distribution camp at Viklang Sahayta Kender, Rishi Nagar. Artificial limbs, calipers, crutches, tricycles and hearing aid were given to 15 physically challenged persons free of cost.

On the occasion, MK Sirivastva, HR (Admn), Vardhman Special Steels Ltd, and Inderpreet Kaur, DSSO, were the chief guest. They were impressed with the work done by the Bharat Vikas Parishad for providing aids and appliances to the physically challenged persons and assured all help for such a noble cause.

Suman Gupta, secretary, said the trust had organised 1,372 camps in which artificial limbs, calipers, crutches, tricycles and hearing aids were provided to more than 56,981 physically challenged persons.

She further said the trust had also organised polio camps, in which 2,781 polio operations had been done successfully. The trust is also running a policlinic on charitable rates in which patients are treated by allopathy, physiotherapy, acupressure, acupuncture, homeopathy and ayurveda.
