A two-day exhibition, part of the third Environment Conservation Fair, began at the Nehru Rose Garden on Saturday. The fair is being organised by the NGO Society for Conservation and Healing of Environment (SOCH), in collaboration with MC Ludhiana.

On Day 1, science models were presented by students of various schools, colleges and universities, giving the message of preserving environment. Many organisations set up stalls and to spread the message of saving the environment. A live workshop on clay ornaments and utensils, vermi-compost, bonsai, etc, was also conducted.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Ludhiana MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi. NGO patron Gurmeet Singh, president Balwinder Singh Lakhewali and secretary Brij Mohan Bhardwaj said that saving the environment for the coming generations is need of the hour. With this objective, science models were displayed today by various schools, colleges, universities and social service organisations. The exhibition will end on Sunday.

Competitions among various schools and universities were also conducted during the exhibition, in which DAV Public School (Pakhowal Road) stood first in the ‘Bio-Breakthrough’ competition. Police DAV Public School won the second position in ‘Story of Tragedy to Trump’; BCM 32 Sector School was third in ‘Next Generation Lithium’; and BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School finished third in ‘Namami Gange’, while CT University received the consolation prize in ‘Integrated Farming’.

The NGO member said the fair aims to highlight various aspects of environment conservation such as heritage tree planting, water conservation, soil conservation, organic home gardening, waste management, waste management, composting, pollution free vehicles, air pollution reduction, environment-friendly packaging, energy conservation, solar energy, healthy lifestyle products and whole grains and human health.
