Farmer run over by train

KHANNA: A farmer of Mandiala Khurd village was run over and killed by a speeding train near Chawa village on the Delhi-Amritsar railway line around 10 am on Tuesday.

A farmer of Mandiala Khurd village was run over and killed by a speeding train near Chawa village on the Delhi-Amritsar railway line around 10 am on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Jagtar Singh (47).

Sandeep Kaur, in charge of police post at Chawa railway station, said the victim was trying to cross the railway tracks near Rupalon village as the underpass was closed due to the ongoing construction work. Jagtar was reportedly depressed.

No case was registered. The farmer’s body was handed over to his guardians after post-mortem. He is survived by a minor daughter and wife.
