Khalsa Institute of Management
Ludhiana: Khalsa Institute of Management and Technology for Women organised ‘Hunar 2024’ on Wednesday. Students from Arya College for Girls, Malwa Central College of Education, Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce, SDP College, GNKCW, SCD Government College for Boys, Kamla Lohtia College, GNIMT, Ramgarhia Girls College, KCW, Partap College, Government College for Girls, PCTE, Synetic Business School, MTS College, Guru Nanak Girls College, GHG Khalsa College and Gulzar College participated in various events. In rangoli, Shrejal of Master Tara Singh College won the first prize, Inderpreet of GCG stood second, Ravneet of GNKCW got the third prize and the consolation prize was given to Mallika of GNKCW.
SCD Government College
The PG Department of Geography at SCD Government College organised a one-day seminar on the ‘Role of Climate in Human Life with Special Reference to Global Warming.’ Deepak Pabreja, former head, Department of Geography, GCG, informed the students about the causes and effects of global warming on humankind with the help of a PowerPoint presentation. Principal, Dr Tanvir Sachdev said geography is a crucial subject in the current scenario where countries around the world are awakened to the dire need of conserving the environment.
BCM College of Education
The eco club of BCM College of Education organised ‘Inter College Declamation and Poster Making Competition’ on ‘Science for Sustainable Future’ to celebrate BML Munjal Centennial Science Day. Chief guest of the day was Dr AS Bindra, former professor at PAU, Ludhiana. Around 45 participants from various colleges of the city participated enthusiastically in declamation and poster-making competition. A video showcasing life and times of Dr BML Munjal and glimpses of the event were showed to the audience.
Guru Nanak Khalsa College
Department of Physical Education of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, organised its annual athletics meet. The events included track and field events such as 100m sprint, 200m sprint, 400m race, 800m race, 4x200m relay, long jump, shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, skipping race, three-legged race, spoon and potato race and chatti race. Rupinder Kaur of BCom II won the title of the best athlete and Pihu of BA II was adjudged the first runner-up followed by Mananeet Kaur (BCom II). Principal Dr Maneeta Kahlon congratulated the winners.
Goverment College for Girls
Goverment College for Girls witnessed a proud moment when Vani Puri, a BA first year student, represented Panjab University in weightlifting in ‘Khelo India University Games’ held from February 19 to 23 in Arunanchal Pradesh. She won a silver medal in the 49kg category.
