Inter-college debate on technology

Ludhiana: SDP College for Women organised Om Parkash Gupta Memorial inter-college debate contest on ‘Is technology going to save the world or kill it?’, in which a total 15 colleges participated DS Chaudhry, PR Commissioner, Income Tax, Ludhiana, was the chief guest on the occasion. the chief guest appreciated the participants for their confidence and urged them to maintain a balance in today’s digital era.

Valentine’s Day celebrations

Valentine’s Day was celebrated at Bajaj College with much fanfare. Students and faculty members came dressed in red colours and participated in various games and activities. A confession box was also placed so that students could put their anonymous confessions, which were read later aloud.

A walk down memory lane

An alumni meet was organised at Partap College of Education under director Balwant Singh and principal Manpreet Kaur. Alumni of the first academic session to 2019 attended the meet with great enthusiasm. The attendees were given a floral welcome. The director addressed the attendees and expressed his willingness to conduct such meetings frequently. He also urged them to take part in activities of social service.

GCG takes part in workshop at LPU

Students of BSc (Bio-chemistry) and MSc-II (Botany) of the Government College for Girls participated in the workshop on “Immunoelectrophoretic techniques” organised by School of Bio-engineering and Bio-sciences, Lovely Professional University. Students were accompanied by the faculty members of bio-chemistry and botany. During the workshop, students were provided with practical perspectives of the techniques. A total 83 students and four teachers participated in the workshop.

Lecture on bone health

An extension lecture on bone health was organised at Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women. Dr SC Ahuja, former principal and professor at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, was the keynote speaker. He apprised students of the side-effects of junk food and told them that the main reason behind many orthopaedic problems was unhealthy food. He also discussed various types of food and its constituents.

Basant Panchmi celebrations

The music department of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, celebrated Basant Panchmi with singer Nivedita Singh, head of Music Department at Punjabi University, Patiala. The celebrations commenced with hymns dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. Nivedita Singh also presented a ‘gurbani’ and range of Punjabi folk music.

Camp on Sanskrit speaking

The department of Sanskrit of Arya College organised a 15-day Sanskrit camp to promote the dying language. The camp was inaugurated with a ‘Saraswati Vandana’. Satisha Sharma, secretary, Arya College managing committee, said such camps inspired students to speak, read and write the language. Principal Savita Uppal said it was the responsibility of educators and students to preserve our languages. TNS
