Ludhiana, June 13
Excellent bowling by Kapurthala sent hosts Ludhiana packing up to a small total of 141 runs in the first innings on the opening day of the fourth and last league match in group B in the ongoing Punjab State Inter-District U-19 Cricket Championship for Dhruv Pandove Trophy being played here at the GRD Global Education Institute ground on Hambran Road on Monday.
Ludhiana were off to a fine start with the opening pair of Saksham Vij and Bharat Madhok putting on 38 runs for the first wicket. Saksham was the first to go with the total reading 38 and he made 16 runs. Bharat followed him (57 for 2) at his individual score of 39 runs after 14 overs.
The rest of the batsmen, except for Ranvir Singh, failed to put up any semblance of resistence as their innings folded at 141 runs in 54.2 overs. Ranvir contributed 55 runs after facing 120 balls with the help of seven hits over the fence.
Kapurthala used only three bowlers and they gave good account of themselves, wrapping up all the ten wickets. Garv Kumar sent down 18 overs, gave away 52 runs and took six wickets while Sameer Khan and Prabhkirat Singh scalped two victims each after giving away 14 and 64 runs, respectively.
At draw of stumps, Kapurthala were well place, 138 for 4 after 38 overs. Sameer Khan contributed 30 runs while Kamal chipped in which 28 runs whereas Jaiveer Bhinder was holding his fort with 63 runs against his name.
For Ludhiana, Siddhant Tiwari grabbed three wickets for 58 runs in 17 overs and Sanyam Gill captured one wicket for 24 runs in seven overs.
