Also, 20 farmers and farm women from Punjab received training in mushroom production from PAU. These training courses were held under the leadership of Dr MS Bhullar, Director of Extension Education.

Dr Rupinder Kaur, Associate Director (Skill Development), observed that PAU, being a premier agricultural institute, was not only popular among Punjab farmers, but also among farmers of the neighbouring states. Several farmers of the neighbouring states were touring PAU to gather the latest information about newly developed crop varieties and technologies, which they apply in their fields, she added. Dr Kaur said Haryana, Kashmir and Punjab farmers were given information on the cultivation of horticultural crops as well as the mushrooms.

Dr Shivani Sharma, mycologist, provided a deep insight into the vast contribution made by the PAU to the rising volume of mushroom cultivation in the state. Stating that mushroom cultivation was being adopted by small, marginal and big farmers due to higher profits and low investment, she shared suitable marketing strategies that were vital after cultivation and processing mushrooms.
