Ludhiana district wins 3 team c’ships

LUDHIANA: Players from Ludhiana district proved their class by winning three out of four team championships in the 64th Punjab State Inter-District Schools Weightlifting Tournament for Boys and Girls (U-17 and 19), organised by the Punjab Education Department at Khanna, near here, from November 10 to 14.

Players from Ludhiana district proved their class by winning three out of four team championships in the 64th Punjab State Inter-District Schools Weightlifting Tournament for Boys and Girls (U-17 and 19), organised by the Punjab Education Department at Khanna, near here, from November 10 to 14.

Ludhiana bagged top honours in the boys U-17 and 19 categories besides girls U-17 section whereas Jalandhar district annexed team championship in the girls U-19 group.

In the girl’s U-17 section, Ludhiana secured 246 points to finish well ahead of others to emerge overall champions. Ropar with 157 points and Bathinda with 146 points finished at second and third place, respectively.

Ludhiana boys got 220 points to wrap up team championship in the U-17 category while Jalandhar (198 points) and Ropar (173 points) finished as first and second runners-up, respectively.

In the boys’ U-19 group, Ludhiana district accumulated 224 points to clinch the team championship and Patiala district finished at second spot with 214 points while Fazilka district garnered 164 points to content with the third position.

Jalandhar district scored 210 points to win team championship in the girls’ U-19 category and Ludhiana district got 198 points to secure second place. Ropar district finished at third spot with 186 points.
