Ludhiana, February 17
A Nepalese servant committed a theft at the house situated in Sun View Colony, Iyali Kalan, and decamped with Rs 7.5 lakh and ornaments worth lakhs of rupees.
A case was registered against the Nepalese servant, Ankit Parshad, and two unknown persons.
House owner Mukesh Jain said on February 16 he along with his wife went to Mumbai. His son went to factory, while his daughter-in-law to market. Later in the evening, when his daughter-in-law returned home, she could not find the servant at home. The entire house was lying ransacked and locks of almirahs in which cash and valuables were kept were also lying broken.
The house owner said some construction work was also going on at the first floor of the house and those workers revealed that on February 16 when no family member was present at home, two known persons came to the house and the Nepalese servant received them. After some time all three left the home.
The accused decamped with Rs 7.50 lakh and gold, silver and diamond jewellery, value of which could be in several lakhs of rupees, the owner said adding that the family is still checking if other valuables were also stolen by the servant.
Investigation officer Sub-Inspector Amritpal Sharma of the Sarabha Nagar police station said a case under various sections of the IPC was registered against the Nepalese servant and two unknown persons and further probe has been launched to get clues about them.
The police suspect that the accused could have fled to Nepal and an alert has been sounded at the Nepal border.
