Ludhiana, June 20
Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma today reviewed the progress of various development projects of the district. A meeting in this regard was held in his camp office here which was attended by MC Additional Commissioner-cum-CEO Ludhiana Smart City Ltd Sanyam Aggarwal, ADC (General) Amarjit Singh Bains, ADC (Jagraon) Neeru Katyal Gupta, SDM (West) Amrinder Singh Malhi, besides others.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of the Hi-tech Cycle Valley project coming up Dhanansu village, upcoming international airport at Halwara, Delhi-Katra Expressway, Buddha Nullah rejuvenation project, besides the projects under Ludhiana Smart City Ltd.
Sharma said the Punjab Government was coming up with Hi-Tech Cycle Valley in an area of 380 acres at Dhanansu village, of which 100 acres had been allotted to M/s Hero Cycle Limited. He said to provide uninterrupted power supply to this cycle valley, 30 acres of land had been allotted to the PSPCL for setting up of 400KVA sub-station. Work of internal development of remaining 250 acres, i.e. concrete roads, storm drains, sewerage system, electrical trench and water supply network, has been started at the site and will be completed soon. The construction of a concrete approach road and a high-level bridge over the Buddha Nullah was in progress, he said
The DC said 161.2703 acres required for the construction of this a civil terminal at the Halwara airport had been acquired and the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) had taken possession of the said land. He said they would try to get the construction of runway completed on a priority basis along with the construction of the terminal building so that the international flights could start operating from here soon.
He also directed the PWD officials to start work on construction of a boundary wall of around the acquired land at the earliest. He said that he would be monitoring the development projects himself.
