The Khanna police claimed to have busted a gang involved in the supply of weapons by arresting three of its members.

The police allegedly seized 14 weapons from their possession. The suspects have been identified as Satnam Singh Dhaliwal (32) of Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh, Iqbal Singh (42) of Gandhwani in Madhya Pradesh and Akash Dawar (27) of Pishola in Madhya Pradesh.

Amneet Kondal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Khanna, said the police have arrested three members of the gang and seized 14 weapons along with one cartridge.

She said a Samrala police team while patrolling near ITI, Samrala, observed a young man coming from the Machhiwara Sahib side. The police party rounded him up based on suspicion and he revealed his name as Satnam Singh Dhaliwal of HP. On checking, the police seized one .32 bore pistol along with one cartridge from his possession. Subsequently, an FIR under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act was registered at the Samrala police station, the SSP said.

Kondal said during the investigation, it came to light that Satnam had brought the weapon from Iqbal Singh of Madhya Pradesh. Iqbal was then named in the case and a special team was formed to raid in Madhya Pradesh which arrested him with six .32 bore pistols and one pistol of .30 bore.

According to the police, Iqbal is a weapon manufacturer and there are a few other cases registered against him. During questioning, Iqbal revealed that Akash Dawar of Madhya Pradesh had recently purchased six weapons from him for supplying to other people. Akash was also named in the case and was arrested with five pistols of .32 bore and one .30 bore pistol. Further investigation of the case was on, the police said.

Two had criminal history

Regarding the criminal history of the suspects, the police stated that Satnam was facing seven FIRs of assault cases and two FIRs under the NDPS Act. Additionally, four FIRs under the Arms Act, including one murder case, were registered against Iqbal in the past.
