Ludhiana, April 13

Mohali bowlers did a commendable job by restricting Ludhiana to a small total of 178 runs in the first innings on the opening day of the two-day league match of the Inter-District (U-23) Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Punjab Cricket Association at Yadavindra Stadium, Mullanpur (Mohali) today.

Mohali won the toss and opted to field. After a sedate start, Ludhiana went on losing wickets at regular intervals and eventually their first essay culminated in 69.5 overs with 178 runs on the board.

Tikshan Tangri top scored with 48 runs and was followed by Sanyam Gill (29), Bhavish Sethi (24) and Tanishq (20).

For Mohali, Harshdeep secured four wickets after conceding 51 runs in 23 overs, Ayush Goyal took three wickets for 68 runs in 19 overs and Ashwini claimed two wickets for 27 runs while Sahibneet got one for eight runs.

At draw of stumps, Mohali, in their first innings were 71 for four after 20 overs. Ravinder Singh Devgun made 23 runs and Rushil Srivastava contributed 16 runs while Anshul Negi and Akashdeep Singh Sidhu were at the crease with 16 and 14 runs, respectively, against their names.

For Ludhiana, Aradhya Shukla, Nehal Wadhera, Chintan Randhan and Yogjit Singh Kalsi shared one wicket each.
