The police have booked a person on the charge of outraging a woman’s modesty.

Investigating officer Ravinder Kaur said the suspect had been identified as Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Mohalla Kotla near here.

Karamjit Kaur, a resident of the same locality, complained to the police that the suspect was her neighbour and had been harassing her for the past four months.

She said the suspect was asking her to make physical relations with him.

The victim said the suspect used to stalk her everywhere.

She added that the suspect assaulted her in Panchayat village, used filthy language against her and touched her inappropriately.

The investigating officer said a case under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 354-A (physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the suspect.

The police said efforts were on to arrest the suspect.
