New Delhi, July 2
Union Home Minister Amit Shah today met the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi — Yogi Adityanath, Manohar Lal Khattar and Arvind Kejriwal, respectively — through video-conferencing and discussed with them the prevailing Covid-19 situation in the national capital and its adjoining areas, comprising the two neighbouring states.
Since Shah had earlier called for a common strategy for the National Capital Region (NCR) comprising districts of Delhi, UP and Haryana, as there has been a consistent spike in the number Covid cases, officials in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said, the Home Minister today held discussion with the CMs to improve the situation and also the health infrastructure. During the deliberations, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan was also present.
The UP Chief Minister asked the officials to stay alert on the movement of people in NCR districts to check the spread of Covid-19. The Home Minister has been leading from the front in handling the situation in the national capital after the Delhi Government’s handling of the pandemic came under criticism.
