Employees and pensioners of the Punjab Government organised a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office today against the budget presented by the Finance Minister in the Assembly. They termed the budget anti-employees as the demands of the employees and pensioners were ignored. They raised slogans against the state government and burned copies of the budget. Leaders of the Punjab Employees and Pensioners United Front said during a rally in Chandigarh, thousands of employees had given a memorandum to the government with the demand of regularisation of temporary employees and restoration of old pension, and other demands. A leader said, “The government ignored our demands deliberately.”

Meanwhile, BJP SC Morcha vice-president termed the budget anti-Dalit as there are no new programmes or policies in it to improve the standard of living of the for people belonging to the Scheduled Castes. He said the AAP government has earmarked less money compared to previous years for the post-matric scholarship scheme too.
