Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Thursday nabbed ASI Santa Singh, posted at the Sadar Police Station, Nakodar, Jalandhar, red-handed while accepting Rs 15,000 as bribe. An official spokesperson for the bureau said the ASI was arrested on the complaint of Kuljit Singh, an employee of a Nakodar gas agency. TNS

Safai workers end strike

Abohar: The Safai Sewak Union of the municipal corporation on Thursday agreed to end its week-long strike after its five-member action committee discussed the prevailing situation at a meeting with Mayor Vimal Thatai. The union had complained that workers were not being paid salaries on a regular basis. OC

Principal suspended

Fazilka: The Principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Mahmu Joyia village, has been placed under suspension for alleged negligence in duty. In a letter, the Secretary, School Education, has directed Brij Mohan Singh to report to the office of District Education Officer, Gurdaspur. OC
