Chandigarh, July 18
Chairing a review meeting of the Public Works Department (PWD), CM Bhagwant Mann today asked the officials concerned to start constructing the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra NH in a fast-track mode.
Mann said the 254-km-long highway would be built at a cost Rs 11,510 crore and would pass through nine districts — Jalandhar, Sangrur, Malerkotla, Patiala, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur. He asked the department to complete the work of mohalla clinics as per the August 15 deadline.
The CM said the Sant Attar Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences at Sangrur, coming up at a cost of Rs 350 crore, would be instrumental in ensuring quality health services to the state, especially the Malwa region.
The meeting also reviewed the projects of Guru Teg Bahadur Law University, Kairon, Guru Ravidas Memorial, Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Sports University and Guru Gobind Singh Skill Institute, among others.
