Chandigarh, February 21

Haryana today made a mention before a Division Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court that Punjab was not impounding vehicles and allowing the farmers and others to assemble at one place in large numbers, which could create tense situation. The Bench, headed by Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, however, did not today take up the state’s plea for restraining them from moving ahead with tractors/trolleys and other modified vehicles.

The Bench was told that the farmers were planning to move to Delhi. Directions were also sought to the State of Punjab not to allow such a large number of farmers/people on Haryana borders. The main case, pending before the Bench, is fixed for hearing for February 29.
