Chandigarh, February 21

The Punjab Congress, targeting Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, today sought registration of an FIR against Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij for the death of 21-year old farmer Shubhkaran Singh at the Khanauri border.

PCC chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said a formal communication had been sent to the Chief Minister to register a case against the Home Minister for being responsible for the death of the youth, who was part of the protesting farmers.

There was need for immediate action against the Haryana Home Minister and the Ambala Superintendent of Police.

LoP Partap Singh Bajwa slammed the Chief Minister, who also holds the home portfolio, for his failure to stop the BJP-led Haryana Government from firing in Punjab’s jurisdiction. Bajwa said, “The Haryana Police have been firing tear gas shells and rubber bullets since February 13. However, the CM has failed miserably to lodge an FIR against cops and the Haryana Home Minister.”

Former CM Charanjit Singh Channi said double standards of the CM were out in the open. “While he has been attending meeting with Central ministers, he has failed to register case against Haryana for committing atrocities on protesting farmers,” he said.
