Chandigarh, January 28
Now, employees of the Water Resources Department, Punjab, working on deputation with the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) will have to rejoin their parent cadre at least a year before their retirement.
According to sources, the decision has been taken to reduce exorbitant amount of pension being paid to the employees on deputation with the BBMB.
Since salaries in the BBMB are much higher as compared to the state governments, it had become a common practice with employees of the Water Resources Department to get their pension fixed on the last salary drawn from the BBMB.
Taking advantage of this loophole, the state employees were getting much higher pension as compared to their colleagues working at the same rank.
