LUDHIANA: The Daresi police have registered a case against two unidentified women for stealing a businessman’s bag containing gold jewellery and Rs 25,000 in cash.

The Daresi police have registered a case against two unidentified women for stealing a businessman’s bag containing gold jewellery and Rs 25,000 in cash.

According to Surinderpal of Mullanpur, he, along with his wife, was visiting Ghara Bhan Market near the Circular Road on December 19. He had kept the bag at a cloth shop of his relative Sunil Kumar and went for shopping. Surinderpal said while he and his wife were away to the market, two women entered Sunil’s shop on the pretext of purchasing cloth. While Sunil was busy showing them winterwear, the women stole the bag containing 50 gram of gold ornaments and Rs 25,000 in cash. The accused made a quick exit.

However, the incident came to light when Surinderpal arrived at the shop and was shocked to find the bag missing.

Husband booked for abetment to suicide
A day after a woman committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan, the police have booked her husband on the abetment charge.

The case against Nishan Singh, a resident of Street No. 3 of Gill Colony, was registered following a complaint by Ramandeep Kaur, the deceased’s sister who resides in the same area. In the complaint, Ramandeep alleged that her sister Rajinder Kaur married Nishan Singh nearly 11 years ago and was being tortured for dowry ever since. Unable to bear more, Rajinder ended her life on December 22, stated the complainant.

Trader robbed of car, 4 booked
The Focal Point police have booked four persons for robbing a Khanna-based businessman of his car. The victim, Sanjiv Kumar of Nandi Colony, Lahairi Road, Khanna, stated that the incident took place on December 21 at 11 pm while he was on his way home in his Hyundai i20. He said when he reached near the Dhandari-level crossing, four persons, who were travelling in a Tata Sumo, intercepted his vehicle. Before he could react, he was pulled out of the car.

Sanjiv said he got terrified and did not offer any resistance. The robbers drove away the vehicle towards the Khanna side, the victim said.
