CHANDIGARH:Himachal Pradesh defeated Chandigarh by five runs in a Women’s U-23 T20 Trophy match at RVR & JC College grounds in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, today.

Himachal Pradesh defeated Chandigarh by five runs in a Women’s U-23 T20 Trophy match at RVR & JC College grounds in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, today. 

Electing to bat, Himachal made 114/7 in 20 overs. Tajinder Singh scored 37 off 36 balls, while Monika Devi hammered a 17-ball 27. 

The duo added 48 runs for the fifth wicket after the side was struggling at 54/4 in 13 overs to provide some respectability to the Himachal total.  

Amanjot Kaur was the most economical bowler for Chandigarh. She took 1/16 in her four overs. Kashvee Gautam claimed 1/18. 

Defending a modest total, Himachal restricted Chandigarh to 109/5 in the allotted overs. Tajinder was the most effective bowler for Himachal, claiming 2/21 in her three overs. Vasuvi Fishta took 1/20.

Kashvee scored an unbeaten 38, while Amanjot made 36 off 48 balls. 

Amarpal powers Punjab

At the Alur Stadium in Bengaluru, Punjab girls registered a seven-run win over the hosts Karnataka.

Opting to bat, Punjab rode on Amarpal Kaur’s unbeaten 35-ball 41 to score 129/5 in 20 overs.  

In reply, Karnataka could only manage 122/6 in the stipulated overs, even as Prathyoosha Kumar hit a brisk 55. — TNS
