Punjab, Uttarakhand enter final of divyang cricket meet

Ludhiana, November 20

Punjab and Uttarakhand entered the final of the Avon Cycles Divyang Cricket League being played in the ground of Punjab Agricultural University here today.

Ashutosh Baranwal, Principal Commissioner, GST, inaugurated the league in which three teams comprising players on wheelchairs took part.

In the first match, Punjab beat Uttar Pradesh by nine wickets. Batting first, Uttar Pradesh made 44 runs for the loss of five wickets in eight overs.

Punjab achieved the target after losing one wicket in 4.2 overs. Rohit who made 20 runs for the winning side, was named the man of the match. Nirmal contributed 18 runs.

In the second match, Punjab defeated Uttarakhand by 10 wickets. In reply to Uttarakhand’s score of 40 runs (Parveen 13 and Aftab Ansari 10), Punjab made 41 runs without losing a wicket. Rohit again excelled with the bat, chipping in with 30 runs and was declared the man of the match whereas Nirmal scored 10 runs.

The third match was played between Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh in which the former came out triumphant by nine wickets.

Uttar Pradesh scored 49 runs in eight overs in which Anmol scored 22 runs. Uttarakhand made the required runs after losing just one wicket. Aftab Ansari contributed 34 runs and Parveen Kumar scored eight runs.

The final will be played at Mohali on November 27.
