AMRITSAR: Three devotees coming from the Golden Temple after paying obeisance on Diwali were looted by car-borne persons near Gandhi Ground here on Wednesday.

Amritsar, November 9

Three devotees coming from the Golden Temple after paying obeisance on Diwali were looted by car-borne persons near Gandhi Ground here on Wednesday. The victims work in a hotel located on the Lawrence road. A case under Sections 379-B and 34 of the IPC has been registered in this connection.

Manpreet Singh stated to the police that he along with his friends Vishal and Rahul, both residents of Himachal Pradesh, were returning from Golden Temple at around 1.40 am on Diwali when three unknown persons turned up in a car near Gandhi Ground on the Tylor road. They snatched Rs 4,000 from him and Rs 3,000 from his friends along with their mobile phones. The car fled towards New Rialto side after robbery.

The police are scrutinising the CCTV footage of the area. Though the car has been spotted in a footage, the visibility is poor due to dense smog that night. — TNS
