Amritsar, June 23

A resident of Mianpur village in Jandiala area climbed atop a water tank in protest against the alleged inaction by the local police in an assault case. Pardeep Singh, a panchayat member from the village said Dharminder Singh (in pic) was injured by eight persons, including the village sarpanch and four panchayat members, on May 31. Pardeep claimed that Dharminder is an Aam Aadmi Party worker. Pardeep claimed that Dharminder had filed an application under the RTI to know about the expenses made by the village panchayat for various development works. He said after failing to get his complaint registered, Dharminder climbed atop the water tank on Thursday morning. The police official present on the spot said they were trying to talk to Dharminder and his statement would be recorded.
