Tarn Taran, March 18

Anganwari centres workers of Naushhera Pannuan block staged a dharna in front of the CDPO office on Monday over non-payment of their monthly contribution and other funds for the past four months. The block-level workers and helpers of different centres participated in the protest organised under the banner of Anganwari Mulazam Union, Punjab (CITU).

Beant Kaur, district secretary of the organisation, while addressing the workers on the occasion, said the officials had failed to pay them their monthly contribution, fuel charges to prepare food for children and other funds.

The organisation members said they would protest daily as the officials did not assure them that when their dues would be paid. The employees raised slogans against the state government. — OC
