ASI assaulted, 2 booked

AMRITSAR: The Jhander police booked a man and his son for allegedly thrashing a cop at Teda Kalan village here on Sunday.

The Jhander police booked a man and his son for allegedly thrashing a cop at Teda Kalan village here on Sunday.

They have been identified as Om Parkash and his son Anhad, both residents of Teda Kalan village. No arrest has been made till now while a case under Sections 353, 186, 332 and 506 of the IPC has been registered against them.

ASI Jugraj Singh stated in his complainant that Balwinder Singh of the same village had lodged a complaint against Om Parkash who runs a medical store in the village. Following this, he along with constable Gurdev Singh went to the spot. Om Parkash was present at his shop and he was asked to join the probe, he alleged started creating a scene by shouting and using abusive language. “He picked up a baseball bat in his shop and attacked me. I have sustained injuries on hands and fingers. When Gurdev intervened, he was also roughed up by them. When the people started gathering, the man and his son fled,” said the ASI.

Police authorities said the accused were absconding and raids were on to nab them. — TNS
