Two former sarpanches of Chainpur village have been booked in connection with a suicide case. Inderjit Singh of Uthian village consumed celphos tablets on Sunday and died on Tuesday. Joginder Singh and his son Sher Singh are said to have threatened the deceased that forced him to take the extreme step. The police found a suicide note from the spot.

Ranjit Kaur, wife of the deceased, said Inderjit along with his son Jatanbir Singh had gone to sell their produce at Bhagtanwala grain market where the accused demanded money which the former had borrowed. They threatened to take his produce away. When he opposed, the accused beat him up and tossed his turban, she alleged.
