Amritsar: Acting on a tip off, the Civil Lines police have arrested four snatchers including two minors and seized 11 mobile phones from their possession. Among those arrested included Gurwinderpal Singh and Sahil, alias Chucha of Ganda Singh Wala located on Majitha Road. A case under Sections 379-B, 411 and 34 of the IPC has been registered against them. The gang was active in different parts of the city especially in Civil Lines areas. TNS

One held with 900-gm opium

Tarn Taran: A team of CIA staff, Patti, arrested one person with 900 grams of opium from the Bhikhiwind area here on Thursday. The DSP (Detective), Dev Datt, said here on Saturday that the accused had been identified as Surjit Singh of Marimegha village. The accused was on a moped when he was arrested by the police party. A case under Sections 18, 61 and 85 of the NDPS ACT was registered against the accused by the Bhikhiwind police. oc

Intoxicating tablets seized

Amritsar: The city police have arrested four persons for allegedly possessing intoxicating tablets in three separate cases. Hastir Singh and Narinder Singh of Patti Sohan Ki village were held with 925 sedative pills. They were held during the checking in Verka area. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against them. Similarly, Sadar police nabbed Sajan of Baba Deep Singh Colony on the Fatehgarh-Churian road with nearly 250 intoxicating tablets while Jasbir Singh Jassa of Mustafabad was arrested with 170 contraband tablets in different incidents. The police have registered separate cases in this regard. TNS

Villager held with 1-kg opium

Amritsar: The CIA staff arrested Arjun Kumar of Shekhuchak village in Pathankot for allegedly possessing 1-kg opium. He was arrested from the interstate bus terminus here. He was produced in a court and brought on police remand to ascertain the source of the contraband. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against him.
