Kanwar Partap Singh Ajnala, youth Congress leader and son of MLA Harpartap Singh Ajnala, along with Block Development and Panchayat Officer Manmohan Singh, disbursed cheques of Rs 3.43 crore among newly elected 98 panchayat heads from Ajnala constituency.

The function was held at Ajnala Block Development Office on Monday. Addressing the panches and sarpanches, Kanwar Partap Singh Ajnala exhorted them to work for the development of their villages. He encouraged them to make development plans in consultation with village residents and seek technical guidance from the department.

“The state government is committed for the development of villages so that residents are provided facilities at par with cities. For this purpose, the government has issued first instalment of development grants within less than two months of the formation of panchayats,” he said.

Ajnala said more grants would be issued in the near future after utilisation of the disbursed funds. He also expressed grief at the killings of CRPF jawans in Pulwama and expressed solidarity with the aggrieved families.
