Amritsar, September 18

A woman was allegedly gang raped by five persons at Avan Wasao village falling under the jurisdiction of Bhindi Saida police station. Though the incident occurred on September 13, a complaint was lodged on September 17.

Those booked have been identified as Ravel Singh, Kulwaint Singh and Pargat Singh, all residents of same village, and two unknown persons.

The victim told the police that her brother had a monetary dispute with the accused. She said on September 13, the accused came to their house around 7 pm when she was alone and demanded money.

She said on seeing her alone, the accused caught hold of her. She alleged the accused took turns and made physical relations. She said when her health deteriorated, they fled away. She said she narrated the entire incident to family members.

The police said a case under Sections 376-D and 451 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against five persons and raids were on to nab them.
