The police have issued a lookout circular against an accomplice of Romanian national Oprea Marius, who arrested for allegedly tempering with an ATM near the bus stand. Marius is accused of installing data copying device on the ATM.

Neeraj Kumar, SHO, Rambagh police station, said during investigations, the police found that Oprea had an accomplice, identified as Rotund Cristian, a Romanian national, whose credentials were needed to be checked.

He said the cyber crime cell was also probing the case. He said the preliminary probe had revealed that Cristian was part of the gang and the police were looking for him.

“A look out circular has been issued to alert the airports in the country so that Cristian could not escape from India,” he added.

Oprea was nabbed near the bus stand here on Friday. The police have recovered the devices which he had installed on the card reader and the keyboard of the ATM for capturing codes of debit and credit cards of the users. The data captured was later to be used to make online transactions fraudulently.

The police also suspect involvement of more persons. The police believe that more ATMs were on their target.
