Man succumbs to injuries, woman among 5 booked

Amritsar, January 19

The police have booked five persons, including a woman, on the charge of murder after a man succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital here on Saturday. The accused had a quarrel with the victim and he was seriously injured in the attack in the Gate Hakima area five days ago.

Those booked were identified as Lovepreet Singh, alias Love, Vikram Singh, Chandan, Chetan and Gurjit Kaur, all residents of Bhutanpura area. No arrest has been made till now.

The deceased was identified as Kamal Kumar of the same area. Complainant Satish Kumar told the police that he, along with his brother Kamal Kumar, had gone to fly kites at his uncle’s house in the Ekta Nagar area on Tuesday. He said around 4 pm, they were returning home on their bike. He said when they reached near the house his motorcycle hit Gurjit Kaur and heated arguments followed. He said all the accused attacked and injured them with weapons.

He said when he raised the alarm the accused fled the scene and he rushed his brother to a private hospital. He said his brother succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The police said the accused nominated in the FIR had fled their houses and raids were on arrest them.
