MC removes encroachments

Tribune News Service

Amritsar, January 23

The Estate Wing of the Municipal Corporation (MC) removed encroachments from various areas in the city. Encroachments have been removed from Putaligarh, Lawarance Road, Mall Road and Namak Mandi.

It has been highlighted by Amritsar Tribune that encroachments on roads, footpaths and public places by shopkeepers led to narrowing of road and inconvenienced pedestrians and commuters.

Estate Officer Sushant Bhatia said: “We are removing encroachments on a daily basis. On Thursday, we seized several vends and warned shopkeepers not to display their goods outside shops. Those who will pose a hurdle for the smooth movement of traffic will be fined.”

Meanwhile, estate wing of the MC also took possession of a slaughter house at Bakkar Mandi. The land belonging to the MC was encroached by a butcher. MC employees set up a board claiming ownership of the land.
