Amritsar, January 18
Two persons were killed while eight others were injured when a car jumped road divider and collided with an SUV coming from the opposite side near Tangra here on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Pawan Anand of Hathi Gate and Satya Anchal Thakur of Majitha road.
According to information, Pawan lost control over the vehicle, which was being driven at a high speed. The car jumped the divider and hit an Innova coming from the opposite side. Dharampal, who was driving the Innova car, sustained injuries.
Besides, seven passengers also suffered injuries. The incident occurred at around 11 pm.
Jagir Singh, in-charge, Tangra police chowki, said on the statement of the victims’ families , proceedings were initiated under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code.— TNS
