Amritsar, January 18

The Amritsar rural police have sent SHO of the Majitha police station Tarsem Singh and Assistant Sub-Inspector(ASI) Rajbir Singh to the Police Lines.

Though, the development was being seen as an outcome of their failure to nab the accused in former Akali sarpanch Gurdeep Singh murder case, however, SSP Amritsar (rural) Vikram Jeet Duggal said they were sent to the Police Lines on ‘administrative’ grounds.

“There are many things which led to this, but it is not particularly related to Gurdeep Singh’s murder,” he added.

The development also came two days after prime accused Harmanjit claiming on Facebook post that Gurdeep Singh was killed by them as he was misguiding the police about them. He had alleged that several complaints of duping innocent youth on pretext of sending them abroad were made against Gurdeep Singh, but the police did nothing due to his political influence.

It has been nearly three weeks the police have failed to nab the prime accused gangsters Harmanjit Singh, Harwinder Singh and Inderbir Singh, alias Buri Basantkotia, besides others in the brutal killing so far.

Till now only one person Manbir Singh, son of a cop was nabbed by the police. He had tipped off the accused about the location of the deceased. Another person Lovepreet Singh, a resident of Dehar Gawar village, was nabbed for harbouring the suspects. The police had confiscated a country-made weapon from his possession.

The SSP said investigations in the case were underway and all possible steps were being taken to nab the accused who had been at large since the incident.
